The Luminum

"Once built as a holy place, a place in which mortals could communicate with their gods, the Luminum has served it’s purpose. Now, decades after the Lumari have left us, it’s rotting corpse is decaying under the light of a never setting sun. The dead eyes of it’s numerous statues peering down on a shrine defiled and defaced by barbaric rites and blasphemy. No living thing has set foot on it’s premises since the death of the gods, and none will ever again."

Personal project I've been working on over the past couple of months in my spare time (6 months in total IIRC. I could've easily spent another 6 on this but as we all know, at one point you just gotta call it :D). It was originally planned way smaller but then just kept growing as is sometimes happens.

Wanted to try out a bunch of new workflows, play around with RTGI in UE4, venture out of my comfort zone and do something that's not featuring so much on vegetation. This project was more of a design/workflow exercise than anything else.
The whole environment is dynamically lit using raytracing (and some fakery here and there) . Another goal was to improve my "one size fits (almost) all" shader. 99% of all assets in this are using the same master material with the exception of some specific decals and the landscape.
